Defenders Gary Neville and Rio Ferdinand are in doubt for England’s next match against Ecuador. Neville suffered a calf injury while training on June 14 and Ferdinand experienced a groin problem during Tuesday’s match with Sweden.
An FA spokesperson informed that on Friday Neville spent 15 minutes in the massage/physio tent and did some running later. As for Ferdinand, he trained separately from the rest of the team during the whole session.
Neville will almost certainly miss Sunday’s game against Ecuador while Ferdinand could be out for the rest of the World Cup. Jamie Carragher, who usually plays as a central defender, is the Trainer’s first choice to substitute Rio Ferdinand if he is ruled out.
